The Waterfall's Mist

A mile and a half hike

up the trail

the river in the canyon

 down below

I get to the falls

finally

it's rained the whole way

and I'm wet, but not cold

and there it is

the waterfall

and a couple is standing at the rail

and the lady says

oooh! look at the mist

it's so beautiful

but I like to look at the river

tumbling downstream

and feel the energy

the crash and the mist

of the waterfall

at my back

Ahhh

I'm reminded of seeing all the beautiful waterfalls on television - especially Angel Falls... and how in the mist, there's a rainbow that arcs the fall. Nice to see you writing again. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"All day and night music, a quiet, bright reedsong. If it fades, we fade." - Rumi

I like this.

It's so plain, in the best sense of the word but I felt a little let down by the last line. Why do you like it feel at it your back? There must be some important reason if you hiked that far. Or, maybe, I'm just not getting it. That happens sometimes.
