Darkness claims me

Darkness claims me This silent monster crept up slowly Not seen and neither heard And suddenly took over all emotions Leaving one losing all control Unwillingly giving in to daily darkness Darkness that constantly beckons Darkness that is a very real threat To all sanity that one has left One awakens and sees the light Feeling like there day will truly take flight Yet, one misspoken word One misplaced action Not always intentionally inflicted Causes the darkness to chuckle with sick glee For it knows, it has taken effect once again Causing that deep, crippling fear and pain Darkness that reaches out and takes hold Its cold fingers gripping and smothering An already scarred and wounded soul Leaving the tears to freely flow When will the darkness stop taking such pleasure? At truly taking over at its own leisure When will light once again be called friend? When will this mind consuming, shattering pain reach its final end? I pray that it is not too late for a soul so lost For, the edge is very real, very there So the time has come to constantly fight And always be painfully alert and aware

Dear Feebie,

this poem does reflect the feeling of a person in the grip of depression very well, I think. Your words bestow a personality on the darkness that keeps trickling into their soul. Sending love and light to keep the darkness at bay, ~Nina P.S. teensy typo in line 10? (there/the?)
