The Man, His Resting Heart, and the Puppeteer Of Course...

Ladies and Gentlemen…all gather round
Its time to see the most fascinating
Most beguiling show in town
The Man, his resting heart, and the puppeteer of course
Of course, of course

You see he is to the eye
An ordinary fellow
Just some other guy
But I assure you that what lies in his chest
Is the true test

His resting heart
Oh what a glorious thing
Oh what a rapid start
It’s a miracle to see how he stands there still
As his heart near stops at will

And of course the puppeteer
The ones who holds the key
She is the true magi-tier
Holding his hands, looking into his eyes
Slowing his heart  with her soft, soft lies

This reminded me of...

This reminded me of Edgar Allen Poes "The Telltale Heart"... I dont know why. Maybe the resting heart reference. Great Job Lady. Lissa

loved it then,

love it now. Has a delightful mix of bravado and feminine charm, the kind of feminine charm that gets men in trouble. Like when my wife says to me "honey, do you think I look pretty?" all sweetly to which I respond "of course I do, my love" to which she snaps to attention then and says "great! Do the dishes and take out the trash! And move it!" Poetry takes me to the weirdest places... Mark W. Emarie,

A great piece of writing! To me this shows both sides of the coin. The one in control and the one wanting to be controlled, both working in the seem realm, while everything else is outside. Lies are truth, depending where your standing, on the inside or on the outside of the Lie. I always love your work, it cause me to see things that lead to poetry for me. This is a "5" starer and so there it is! thanks, Eddie Life is like a railroad track that leads to many junctures, if you stand on the track, Love comes speeding along and runs you over!! Splat!!!!

this poem

has a very soft, tender sort of dreamlike quality to it--and is structured very well! first you frame it as a carnival show, this man and his romantic interest? i think? and then you describe the seeming ordinariness of the man which is a deception. i take this as the muse, framed as a woman, pulling the poet's "heart strings" and transforming him into something more. and those last lines: And of course the puppeteer/The ones who holds the true key/She is the true magi-tier/Holding his hands and looking in his eyes/Slowing his heart a to rest with her soft, soft lies.." Gorgeous! This is one hell of a poem. Great job! GB

This man resisting heart

Lissa Marie How did you know this is me. Oh yes I recognise me as the pupperteer but also this is reversible to. A muse to each other and tease so. Edgar Allen Poe. I will have to get is book so I can read his Telltale Heart All I can recall of Poe is The Raven and Dorian Gray. I am intrigued now I will have to go to the library later today. Maybe you could look at my last peom Charm as it is similar to this. I had problem with line spacing and it is meant to be read in lines of four mainly but for some reason it has turned out like this Thank you so Electric Blue

The telltale heart is probably available online..
