Bad Words

When words are meant to rip and tear
only idiots like to hear
them used as weapons
by tiny-minded little cretins

when words are hurtful as hammers
only those incapable of manners
are dumb enough to voice
that using them is merely choice

when words you use put folks down
they reveal you as a stupid clown
with a lack of class
that proves you are an ignorant ass

so much for my own opinion
insulting yes, but not so brazen
but I'll bet that there are none
who'll care to say that I am wrong

That I am wrong --- there said it, and I do care. LOL Good piece there, and pulls those sarcastic ones down. The only trouble is that sometimes it is the educated ones that are the worse in this field, and for them to use it as a weapon just shows how bad they can be. The experts are the polotitions or so they don't think, Thanks for your write,Yours Ian.T

You are so right about the "educated ones"! And the politicians too. Glad you liked it. Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

I'm sorry you had such a bad week, don't let them get to you (advice I never could take myself, people like that get me upset up for days). hope your next week will be better. til them just breathe in... and out... and in... and out... your Proprietress

LOL It was a bad week until I wrote this...funny how writing seems to lance the boil of frustration and anger! LOL My week THIS week is better, thanks! Spending a lot more time with my wife, my daughter and sons, THEY are the ones who make me remember how stupid it is to get mad at idiots! LOL Glad you enjoyed it P, Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

My grandfather

who was a strange old bird - a mixture of twinkling humour & rod up the whatsit -always used to trot out the mock Latin saying 'Nix illegitimi carborundum' which he insisted meant "Don't let the bastards grind you down". I find myself repeating that phrase more & more often as I get older - usually accompanied by a fair amount of teeth grinding on my part. I try and make a conscious choice everyday to commit to a life of calm, but some of the politicians in this country seriously do my head in & then I grind away...& repeat & repeat :) Good rant! Jo

LOL thanks Jo

You do get to the point where you take a big step back and say to yourself "Leave it alone, its not a big deal". Unfortunately, this particular week was NOT one of those times! And let's not start in on the idiots that are supposed to be leading us...BAAAAAAAAADDDD idea! LOL Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

Jim...

I enjoyed this tremendously and have felt this way almost my whole life... although I can't say I've never been the one slinging words, I do try not to. Learned a long time ago that some words can never be taken back... no matter what you do! thank you for posting this! Richard

Hi Richard

yeah, I've spent a lot of my life feeling the same way, and there was a time when I wouldn't have used a poem to get it off my chest either but as I've gotten older I find that a few choice, well-timed words can floor an idiot just as well as a fist can...and with a lot less grief (not to mention jail-time) too! Yes, you must always watch those words! I am pleased that you liked this so much. Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

no no…tell us what you

no no...tell us what you really think! lol... just teasing a bit. Every word is true. Words...as powerful as physical pain when weilded so. is not just a tool bound by educated people though. Is anyone who strikes out saying something they know will hurt or degrade. Very nice write Jim. i need to remember to think before i speak sometimes! Tonya

OK, I'll tell you what I REALLY think: %^$^%)^&(*()(*% ^%#%^$%^$ &^%$^%#%^#$!!!!!! LOL Just kidding with you! But yes, I've always thought that words can be as damaging as blows, in most circumstances. And usually the reason for using them is just to denigrate and harm, very true. Its why I almost never use words as weapons. Almost never ;S Heehee Glad you enjoyed it, Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

Jim,

I guess it is true...to a hammer everything looks like a nail! I have also written about hurtful words in my "Casually Inflicted wounds." I don't remember if you had read it or not. I try to think before I speak but still it doesn't always work. Sincerely~ Debbie

Hi Debbie

I was wondering where you had gotten to! Yes, I read your poem. I have read all of you poems, and enjoyed how you have developed as a poet. Trying to think before you speak...at least you TRY lol...so many don't. I always have to keep my mouth shut I'm afraid, because I run a mile a minute, no thoughts whatsoever, and will ALWAYS get into trouble!
