Definitive

The shining mask of goldDazzled my naive, young mind.
 Unexperienced.......
I thought I had finally found it,Discovered its meaning. But sadly,Trusting sensitivity was left scarredWhen true aspect was revealedFrom it's dark cloak of concealment,And the pursuit of definitionbegan again. My wings grew, carrying me to and fro,Finding deception always covering faces,Having to learn to take the timeTo unveil the countenanceThat is never as attractive as its decoration. Then my sight fell on you.... You had no facades,Walls had not yet been built about you,Pretense never shadowed your eyes,And your emotions wore no disguise.
Yet the face shown, terrified me. We always fear the unknown,But yet, wasn't this the quest,The search for its visage? The face of Love, I found in youOpen and without deceit,And it redefined my whole world,But things changed and we parted ways. I searched for that face among others,Once again thrown into the masquerade,To twirl among the painted faces. My searching gazes disguised Hope,Dressing it in the glitter of eyesGlazed over with deception. While my heart would forever longfor the innocent face,That had become eclipsed by a mask
 Formed by the foolish actions
 of my own hands.

Very memorable, Misty!

A truly well-penned piece that inspires and incapacitates at the same time! Fills ones poetic soul with both awe and anxiousness! Kudos!
