me

I left my shadow far behind

When clouds covered up the sun

Freed from my tethered image

I began to run

It wasn’t long before I felt

A part of me was gone

Now I’m searching for the brightest light

To show me where I am

I’m lost without my shadow

That other side of me

It’s no fun being half yourself

And always on the run…

The skies are rolling heavy

The rain begins to fall

The wind keeps blowing me along

Far from the place I was

Can this storm rage on eternal

Will the haze never clear

I’m afraid I’ve removed forever

The parts of me most dear.

I’m lost without my shadow

That other side of me

It’s no fun being half yourself

And always on the run…

Hi Tonya,

this is another little gem. Reminds me of Peter Pan, weeping because he lost his shadow... Good use of weather metaphors/imagery, and smooth flow. Yours, ~Nina P.S. stanza 2: with out-> without?
