A big mistake

Once I came home late from work.

The first thing I saw was our dog.

She'd had a haircut and looked cute,
so I fussed and stroked her
and said 'How pretty you are! '
then walked past my wife
(who was cooking dinner)
and sat in the lounge.

Later, my better half sat down beside me,
gave me a pointed look, and said
'I've had a haircut, too! '

I guess I'll never live that one down.

(Note:  Later still, she told me
I wouldn't notice her new hairstyle
even if she stuck a caulifower on her head...)

It's true, men have told

me that women notice things more that men, but hey us women should be use to that by now, so you men should be off the hook. But I guess there is still some women out there that just can't let go. But it's not the end of the world. Good point by the way and I enjoyed the read. Fleur

Noticing things

I agree that the idea of men not noticing things is a little old hat by now, but here I think it was noticing the dog but not my wife that made things worse. At one point, by the way, I had actually written more poems about my canine friend than about my spouse, although I managed to set things right in the end. Thanks for your comment. Best wishes, Robert.

Hi Robert...

funny stuff... well, to me... I guess not to your wife though... loved the humor and the way it is set up... heck, I liked the whole thing and the cauliflower too... this could be written out for a comedic skit on a show.... Richard

Painful comedy

I'm glad you tuned in to the comic side in this one, even though it is based on a true, painful episode in my married life. My wife has a long memory when it comes to such little events, and I'm sure she will bring it up every now and again throughout our remaining years together, hopefully with a smile on her face though, as she says 'Remember that time when you ...' Thanks for commenting. Best wishes, Robert.
