"You cannot Leave me"

"To My Muse"(or You cannot leave me)

I woke at 2am.

and you were there

you cannot leave me now

you're there to haunt my sleeping hour

each day, each night

you're with me

when you believe

I shouldn't think

more thoughts of you

you taunt me still

'tis not my will

I love you still

you are a dream

although unseen

I feel you tangibly

a thought

a spirit

air

and yet you're there

inside, beside of me

no strange alarm no qualms

no fear can banish you

from being near

so dear

right here and in the now

and yet I cannot wonder how

you own me

can take me out like some bright

pebble found

caress my thought e'en though

its naught

an object found

not only sought

a pearl possession made complete

not even gods can now defeat

The love so deep inside me

is there for ever more

you tapped me to the core

if I had a book you would be my words

If I had a tree you would be my birds

If I had a building you would be my windows

If I had a box you would be my gift

If I had a sky you would be my stars

while all the world looks on

we sing the song in our minds

not frightened to live

yet frightened to die

oh ache sublime

stay now, stay mine

forever more entwine

our fingers

our souls

that linger on

not gone.

Thank you, dear you

Yes what business had the words to do with my sleep? Our minds are not asleep, and soon are magnetised back to the depths of the feelings and have to be expressed immediately. You should see the wobbly rows of strange shaped writing in the dark. Love Ann of Norway.

LOL

Hi Ann - I finally got around to reading this after being without connectivity all weekend & then catching up on work e-mails. BORING! Would far prefer to be trolling Neopoet. I have to laugh at the image of you scribbling furiously in the middle of the night then peering at your scribblings the next day trying to work them out. I can identify with your poem - when the muse strikes, you have to strike back, don't you?? Jo
