RED'S LAST WALK

Walking along a path well known
I found that I was not alone

Shadows cast and footsteps heard
I never heard a spoken word

Darkness falling, sunset failing
I feared this unknown thing

My pace now quickened, almost running
what was behind me was so cunnning

Full moon rising, an evil omen I could see
I pulled my cloak tightly about me

And bent my head to the wind
Surely, safety was just around the bend

But alas, the thing from behind
My red cloak its big teeth did find

And  pulled me back as I
stared hopelessly into it's large eyes

Oh, Grandmother!  I shall never see you again

Although I never heard a spoken word I think this would fall in better if the although was left out well there's a nice twist on the little red riding hood theme. I like what you have done here. Good eye catching title as well Chrys

Little Red Riding Hood, with a vengeance

Welll doggies, one of these days I've gotta have a looong talk with that Wolf! Loved it. Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water." If government is the answer, it's a stupid question!

I like this-

I would have liked it a little better if all the couplets rhymed, esp. since it is a take on a fairy tale. I esp. liked stanza 3, with its alliteration in the first line and the inarticulable fear of some unknown danger in the second - the dreaded "unknown thing." Nice job.

Your poem seems like a horror story. What a vivid description! Inference from a classic is brilliant. The reader is simply enchanted by the beauty of flow of the poem. Congrats. I am sorry, my friend, I have been neglecting my poet site as of late. I started back to work at the hospital on an oncology floor, and I have been so busy. I have not written much either. Red's Last Walk just popped in my head one night at work. I promise I will read your beautiful work. Sincerely, Linda

Your working on the Oncology floor must be very demanding. It must be a stupendous task to be associated with. I am sure you find it highly satisfying also. However, your job will give you new vision and open new vistas and horizons of thoughts and these thoughts will flow through your pen. Poetry is a food for soul. It generates delicate and tender feelings in heart, influences ones behaviour in the society, bestows knowledge and appreciation of relationships and sense of realization of good and evil. It helps in generating virtues in ones self and to discover ones self. A person like you with craving for poetry has deep integration with it and can't keep away from it despite occupational preocupation. I am sure you have read my poem The Nurse. Sincerely, Mohammad

Yes

I have read your poem The Nurse. Actually, I have read all of your poetry. Thank you for your kind comments. I think you would be very interesting to talk to in person. Your mind and your heart are very connected. I wonder if this is what makes our soul? Sincerely, Linda

Linda

I am pleased to know that you have read all my posted poems. This is perhaps what has built an image of my personality and instigated your remarks that it would be interesting to talk to me in person. I am honored. Perhaps that day will come. In todays world distances have become meaningless. In a way you are right about what makes our soul. Soul is the animating and vital principle in humans credted with the faculties of thought, action and emotions and often concerned as an immaterial entity. Soul may be virtuous and idealistic or evil, wicked and immoral.Islam, Christianity and Judaism talk about purity of soul that elevates you to the level of understanding God. Budhaism talks about such purity taking you to Nirvana. The fact is that purity of soul is achieved by commanding your heart and mind. I hope you find my answer satisfactory. Best regards. Sincerely, Mohammad
