Danse du Trompeur Just twiddled it a little-is this better?
Danse du Trompeur
Lost- in an echoing cavern of hollow promises
Clinging arm-less to the dance I thought we shared
Gliding through the embrace of honeyed phrases
Reeling at the steps of deceit and lies now bared.
Don't smooth your empty words on my heart any longer
Your love talk was scattered far not just for me
Nor spin the silken trap of a spider's web ever stronger
The last waltz was never meant to be a dance for three.
Though I bleed-I'm not real- no longer a presence
Drifting close to the place I was always afraid to find
I finally opened the doors to discover it never existed
A naked dancer, shifting sands, you played with my mind.
