The New Year

Residuals still cling to me
As I cross your threshold,
For marked, am I,
By the passing of time.

Saying goodbye to the old
and hello to the new.

I find it difficult
For my sight is still able
To see past your mile markers,
And moments are the components
of my self definition.

So shall I leave part of myself behind?
For I am not new, and I am not old,
I am just a traveler within Time's hall.
And you are just a door,
That hides the future from our eyes.
