When I can dream no more
When I Can Dream No More
When the scepter of perpetual slumber
points to me in every way
I can't refuse but to obey in silence
for I'm just a dust of the
ground, to say.
Lying on a cold tombstone
Separated by an earthly wall
Neither could I hear your voice
nor could I dream of you at all
Vain to kiss me when i'm asleep
for my lips will be so cold
Vain to hug me many times
for my lifeless form can
no more hold
If it's not too much for the asking
kiss me now while I can feel
Whisper words of love to me
While I'm still here to hear
Bring me flowers of any kind
so I can cherish and enjoy
Defer not to hold my hand
and caress it all for joy
