Passive Essence

Sticky relational web
This familial connective tissue,
Trapping me within this cage
Unable to reach for transition.

While these helpless eyes watch
With silent internal sighs,
The settling malcontent
In their beloved oblivion.

For happiness falls just past
The brushing fingers of understanding,

Lying there...

Within the cracks of miscommunication.

As loneliness becomes a
constant companion,
In a world where change
is just another disguise.

Blue Halcyon, this really hit an emotional nerve with me...a very deep and insightful read. You were able to convey a lot with minimal words. The only suggestion I have, as a reader, would be to put a space after the line "unable to reach for transition." I could be off the mark, but it seemed to me the next sentence started a new thought, and making these 2 separate paragraphs worked better for me as a reader. Great writing...thanks for sharing it! I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. :-) And thank you for the suggestion Byron - I had wondered whether or not I needed to break that up a bit but I have a tendency to too many spaces sometimes. hahaha lol
