Carpe Diem

 "CARPE DIEM" ANN OF NORWAY

Oh nature's essence come to me

And fill my mind with ecstasy

That I may send the message out

To all whose nature is devout

For there it lies a-waiting

Life's rich and coloured painting

So don't sit there and hide your eyes

For life's great joys are not disguised

They're there for all to see and taste

Jump up and grab the chance, make haste

While all your faculties are good

And you can use them, as you should

Or old age will disclose a lack

Of wonder at this life, not black

But all the colours you desire

Before you're on your funeral pyre.

Get up, get on, today's the day

When you should throw all cares away

And visit friends to do them good

With good cheer gathered in the wood

Of life's rich store that's worth the care

Because straight after you can share

And doing so the cup can fill

The cup of life so brimmed and whole

If you will?

Ann of Norway,

I love it when you write in rhymes, it suits you so well! you have a great flow and your rhyming doesn't sound forced. the few places I stumbled: For there it lies a waiting - this needs to be longer, it disrupts the flow For all to see and wonder at - as this line does not rhyme, I would leave a line of space after it, so that it is the end of the verse. or lose it alltogether, I think that it is the only line that doesn't rhyme, right? or you can add a rhyming line to it... the idea in the last three lines is wonderful, but the pace gets awkward maybe you can keep the rhyme as it is in the rest of the piece without losing the meaning of the words? I am convinced that you'll find the right words. but let me know if you need some help on that anyway. we'll figure something out, my dear Ann! I enjoy your poetry so much and sincerely appreciate your comments and messages. your Proprietress

An upside down dormouse

Dear Proprietress, my proprietress in quality, I do so appreciate you being honest and taking the time to help me. I just had to first go to Rett's place and wish him a happy birthday as he told us a while ago about it, its not yet 28th in USA but never mind. Take a look. Yes you are right and I shall look into the bumps and smooth them out, if I can, I haven't got it here in front of me for some reason so will let it suffice to thank you so far. In the grey weather the lights show up, that's what I like about Winter, the sun tints all the colours in the Summer, paled by her heat we too become lethargic, in the Autumn I start to wake up. I must be an upside down dormouse. Love to you Kata from Ann of Norway
