Fame and Fortune

Fame and Fortune

A shimmering, coruscating veil of memory
cascading in waves of light across the mind
with choral voices striving to be heard
A raucous murder of crows; those left behind
in dim recesses of dark cornered rooms
striving for light that has never penetrated
the subconscious revulsion to the callous
inhuman menagerie of souls defenestrated
from the times you knew once before
long ago in the life you once led and lost
in the never ending lust for fortune and fame
now achieved at the cost of love and friends
Alone at last in your success, alone with regrets

this is great

I think I like this new direction you are exploring, although I am missing the rhymes already! The flow of this piece is really good. The fourth line threw me a bit though, it doesn't seem to fit as it is. I think its the word "crow"...but it does belong there, image-wise. Made a few changes, I think that line may read better now

And I really appreciate the input. I go through phases. My first love is rhyme, but am capable or writing differently. BTW, there are a few subtle rhymes I snuck in there just for fun. Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water."

Thank you Janice

I decided to stretch my wings a bit again and see what I could do in a different style. I tend to experiment from time to time to keep from getting bored. Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water."

I got the gist of whats behind the poem. Money and fame always corrupt. When I get to where I'm going there will be no more tears. where am I going? HOME where my heart lies. Patty

Absolutely Patty

And that, after all, is where true happiness lies! Thank you. I know I answered once before, but get the feeling I didn't hit the submit button. My apologies. Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water."

Thanks Rett

And guess what the people who hurt me are alone and they are sorry and don't want to be alone. I know I should not find pleasure in that. But I told them so. And now, My door is closed to the stalking bag of decaying bones that they are, evil and alone without the children I raised. Wow.... I guess I took that a little personal..... This is dedicated to the ones I loved..... thanks for the words my man
