Assymetry

An old love poem from 1971.

Asymmetry of stones, asymmetry of you

Produce variety of forms, all beautiful,

I bow to thee oh knight of Cornwall

Stoop to kiss thy gown

Then melt into your warm embrace

And drown.

The organ of your heart

Plunges to my core

Surging all desires up to meet the weight of love

Oh love, oh love, oh love!

How still the moon

How pregnant the birds of Spring

Still yet not they swell to reach the sun

The Lark bursts its throat

The Robin sings, a twinkle in his eye.

The Tree Pipit descends, a ripple in his sigh.

All nature loves, and loves, and loves the music in your eye.

Oh gem that glows far out of reach

And lights up happiness

And glows a warmth among the rocks

Casting bright reflections on those who look your way.

Ah! Would I were part of that rock

To look on thee far longer than this life permits

In circumstances unpermitable

May those who live near

Live and love

As strong a glow as that you give

That they may gain a part of you

Oh gem so out of reach

Take from me breath and aching strength

Your kindness draws me in

To a spirit so full of love

That it o'erwhelms my sin

I know the facets, know the points

Where all the earth stood still

As on a pinnacle of joy

Off balance I did fall

To crash the mirrored surfaces

As rock met rock

Reverberating through the mountains of my heart.

Slow, slow the pace

I glide too fast

I'll contemplate the beech

With roots held firm

The trunk of silver

Strongly gains the sky

A pattern of great beauty spread

Embracing you and I.

I lack the art to cast my thoughts in words

Thoughts that within my soul lie deep enshrined

Thoughts that for all their cloistered nature shine

Like blazing stars bedazzling all my brain

I scan the void so narrow

That our outstretched hands reach out

And quivering touch

And so the void is naught

Your warmth engenders warmth in me

It glows pervading all my mind enkindling in my soul

An adamantine ember casting its reflections iris-like

Within my heart its colours as a glistening flawless gem

Each facet casting back an echo of the sigh of love that

Breathes the name of Tristram. A sigh reverberating endlessly

Deep in the inmost corners of my mind. Like ripples in a boundless

Sapphire pool. Give me your strength and draw your strength

From me. Let my heart beat for you, and let my breath spread out its

Fingers, touch you with my love. The rock extends its summit to the stars

That glitter on the morion crystal night. The stars of grace, the morning stars of love

And one small star called hope.

est lui jure un amour éternel

I had an *Ileno* then in 1971.... he was an Italian god, a painter who died before he was 30, just like he said he would.
