Nicaraguan Coffee

It is a really, really bad idea
to give Nicaraguan coffee
to two people who become extremely garrulous
when they're fully awake!

On our last trip home
we were given a case of Gevalia coffees.
In it, two boxes of Nicaraguan coffee.
Tastes great, perks you up
and makes you feel like a hummingbird
on crack - no lie!

Our first time drinking the coffee
we're both wide awake and very alert.
And our mouths run non-stop
neither of us can get a word in edge-wise.

We've learned to compensate
and try to take turns when
there is something to be said.
Of course, there is the problem that because we're so hyper
only about half the stuff we blabber about
bears any relevance to anything!

So watch out for that Nicaraguan coffee!!

hmmm...

strangely enough, Jess, I have had that very same reaction with friends. Only, it wasn't to coffee. *whistles innocently* I love this delightful piece, reminds me of a song "Different Drumer" by Black 47, one of my all time favorites. (might listen to some now, in fact... it's been far too long!) A true poet can write about the mundane as well as the profound. And you have done this, with coffee. You are a true poet :) Mark W. Galatians 5:22-23 "22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against these, there is no law!" My favorite verse(s) in the Bible

nicaraguan coffee!

i'd imagine it would have this effect! starbucks coffee (though i make every effort to avoid buying anything from there) seems like crack cocaine to me. one large starbucks black and i'll talk some very "profound" nonsense for about two hours. i remember ordering caffeinated candy from the internet when i was about 19 and working at a grocery store. instead of chocolates, they were "shock-a-lots". they worked well for about two weeks, then i wasn't so good with busting the carts. thank you for letting the danger be known. gb

gentlemen

Thanks so much for the comments and the read. Mark, that song sounds vaguely familiar, and will have to look it up. John, I don't really like Starbucks coffee either, but their vanilla chai latte is just simply addictive. Dunkin Donuts has one, too, and it's just awesome! The non-traditional chocolates are always a profound interest - you mentioned the caffeine ones, I had a set of alcoholic ones! Little chocolate bottle shaped things with Jack Daniels, rum, kaluah, great stuff!! Thanks again, guys. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"Handle every situation like a dog: if you can't eat it, or screw it, piss on it and walk away!"
