Blood Red Rose

You return to me this nightYou are frozen with the coldWe embrace, your kiss lingers
as you give to me
a single red rose. Still a bud but the scentSends me highSo strong so freshGiven with love.Within our nest. There it staysWith you to
bloom and growAs our loveOur inner glow Blood red roseSo deepLost withinIts foldsYou keep. Full of loveEntwinedin our heartin our soul It is in the placeI love the bestWith youin our nest Blood red roseRemainsHolds fastThe essenceOf our loveThat lasts. The light inYour eyesIn the afterglow

Maggie,

the idea of likening love to a rose is a rather old one, but this poem feels fresh and new... One tiny thing: Could you take out the comma in l.4? Missing you, ~Nina

This is a lovely poem, but it still feels a little bit sad to me, like there is an underlying source of pain. I wonder why. Always, Cat

Your special presence on this site is a real gift to all who read your little works of art. There are those of us who love you and would miss you greatly if you were not here. Your life has touched many of us and we need you. Always, Cat

Blood Red Rose

Jayne Here am I sobing relentlessly uncontrolable in the place I love and long to be forever and a day. For days I am left all alone tears will not stop longing to be loved I just lay here knowing my knight chose to be elsewhere instead of here where love resides So lost and alone am I in with no one to share, Tears fall endlessly I cannot console myself. Do I need to still exist at all? As all I long for is not here with me - when we could be! Then my knight returns days later with a single Blood Red Rose as a token I am the flower in fall bloom but dying day by day longing for love but spurned again and again tears and more tears fall Electric Blue fading into non existance- No reason to be...........

There is always a reason to be, but nobody can bathe in the same river twice, things keep going up sometimes, down sometimes. The later you endure, until the upper times come again. That, I believe, is the little, unwanted secret of life. Happiness doesn't last forever; sadness lasts even less if you know how to endure. Best Regards, Hugo.

Hugo It seems to be the story of my life. I find a true love and long to be with them as they did too but to be spurned tossed aside left for days to cry cry cry not wanting to be anymore. just a word a smile a touch but that seems to be too much to expect and then return cold and distant. All you ask youself why, why, why? When all you do is give everything all your love you whole being your whole existance - what for - why? But here am I still longing for all of this to be loved and to love. but in this world it does not seem to be - or does it? Electric Blue

Dear Blue

It's sad that love is sometimes the worst cure for loneliness, but that isn't true love. It still hurts when it's gone. The first verse of the poem made me think a little of the "Song of Solomon": 'Let me in, my sister, my darling, my dove, my perfect one! For my head is wet with dew, my curls with the mist of the night." I loved the similarity even though it's not quite the same, the essence is just as beautiful. Love Dalton.
