To you with all the answers

Left wing... right wing,
if there were no middle of the road
where the fuck would I go.

a dreamer I am...

of a world where the ridiculed are accepted
and Life is precious...
not only for the wishes of the few and far bloated,
self-motivated, undeniably cascaded...
into their own righteous walking talking
balk at the rest...
and even I don't pass the test...

ever dreaming I wake.

Hi Stella...

political... not really... more about extremisms... I know you are a dreamer, it seems to be a plague among poets and artists in general... and without them, where would we be... thanks Richard

the feelings

that I think all artists, poets, and idealogues have. I think the worst feeling is when you can't even fit in with the outsiders. That's a very uncomfortale netherworld indeed. You said alot in this short piece, it's chock full of exasperated exclusion. Your main body is superb, spot on, but I have to admit that the ending was a huge letdown for me, felt like a total copout after such a strong poem, as if you were trying to end it but weren't really comfortable with the "how." Mark W. Galatians 5:22-23 "22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against these, there is no law!" My favorite verse(s) in the Bible

Mark...

I was glad to see you commenting on this one and with such an in-depth look into it... and perhaps it needs to be edited because of the let-down you felt... ... but let me try to explain it, although I feel if that is needed then the poem has already failed... the ending lines... it was about me hating the extremisms of society and by hating it so, I've put myself in the same place... left there to reflect... in wake. I so much appreciate your honesty in critique... it is a much needed commodity here... thank you very much! Richard

Hi Richard, I know it’s

Hi Richard, I know it's not really political (was having a little inauguration fun, please forgive!) I understand your message but also, maybe you're being very hard on yourself? ('.. even I don't pass the test') I feel your loathing of the extremism of society but it's also to do with one's perception of it, right? And how comfortable you are with yourself. Feeling like you don't fit in often results from wanting to fit in. Really hope I'm making any sense Richard because I think it's a very strong piece but maybe there's nothing wrong with 'dreaming in wake' so to speak? ~Stella

Thank you Janice...

I believe that most writers are fairly introverted by nature... of course there are those times we let loose.... appreciate your read of this piece... Richard

a neat

commentary on how poets approach the political, apolitical, and societal mores--definitely accurate for the most part. when poets get involved in politics bad things can happen *sometimes*--Neruda seduced by Stalinism! imagine that. refreshing! gb

To you with all the answers

Moon, Exceptional piece I like how the lines flowed. Ending it in: And even I don't pass the test, would be the stronger ending~ [But I too, do not have all the answers] _____________________________ To write a touching poem, you must gently stir the soul, if it brings forth tears or smiles, then the story was beautifully told. ________Janice Pearce_________

Janice...

Thank you for reading and commenting... I always love it when you do... I appreciate your thoughts on the ending line... this is still a work in progress... I may change it, but for now I want to let it float for awhile... but leaving that last line out may just make the ending stronger... Richard

Exceptional. You outdid yourself. this piece says it all and none of us can pass the test completely. About the only thing I can add is WOW! Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water."

to you with all the answers

Richard Well what can I say. We all feel we do not fit in. But how boring that would be. We are true to ourselves and live the life of an artist and poets in all our mediums. We will never fit in no matter what we do. We are introverted but also extrovered too We are all mixed up my friend but why do we always try to find reason? To battle with ourselves. Let us just be. a dreamer I am…

ever dreaming I wake. this connects the first and last part, I feel that the last line is necessary. I liked it a lot after the first read. then I re-read after seeing the comments and I still liked it. it adds a complicating simplicity (or a simplifying complexity). I hope you know what I mean, Mr Moonman. a wonderful piece. your Porprietress

Proprietress...

I do know what you mean, and that is why it is there... to add a dream-like-reflection to self-realization... or so I thought... thank you for your words... Richard

Oops!

Gotta fix that baulk, make it balk. And yes, I think it's so normal for folks like you an' me and everybody else that be to feel somehow different than human ... or at least the humans all about. What's funny is that those humans we think do fit in often feel they don't. No surprise, that. On another note, Buster needs both right and left wings for balance. However, if he were to lose either or both, he'd still be Buster. I'd love 'im just the same. Some'v these I'm-right-you're-wrong individuals/groups make me downright embarrassed to be human. It's then I'm kinda glad to be an alien from another planet, another solar system, another star, another galaxy. That way I don't have to go around apologizing to all my critter friends for what ordinary humans do/have done to 'em. Thanx again, Chuck

Hi Chuck...

Thank you for that "balk"... my spell check hadn't questioned it and neither had I, and between the three of us... I trust you! It is changed... You are correct about the balance too, and we need it but it is sure hard to look at sometimes... lol... Thank you for your dashing commentary... I feel the same way! Richard

I loved this Richard, punchy with little strands of tenderness

Oooh I loved this Richard, punchy with little strands of tenderness... like a well, balanced chocky with lots of flavour & good quality ... (mmmmm chocky!)... Nothing "sticky" about it though (chuckle) Truth & clarity, I love that path, whichever way it leans Left, Right, Middle of the road or bridged, dug or otherwise circumnavigated! I am inspired to go read more from you... (hmmm work?, what work?!!!) Anni May I wish to walk gracefully..... so as not to spill water.
