The Seventh Son

The Seventh Son

Adam was the first
to grow old and die
if he felt the distress
I’m feeling today
He must’ve been horrified
at what was happening to him

Besides Adam had the prospect of
Living forever before him, though not I
seeing his first born
Murdered by his second born
had to be a devastating blow

If he had put faith in his
Loving father and not
Partake of an illicit fruit
we would all be perfect like he was
living forever in a perfect earth

Enoch was the seventh son
in the line of Adam
and walked with the true God
Putting faith in him, why not I?
Thereby condemning Adam

This seventh son put faith in the Almighty
Among a crooked earth, why not I?

dear Barbara,

I love the repetition in the last two stanzas (why not I), you emphasize this pieces statement. very well written, you grow with each new piece. all my respect, your Proprietress

I glad you like it. I thought about the repetition (why mo I) after I finish the draft. I thought it would really impact the poem more. Thanks for noticing that, now I know it did the job intended. ~~~~~~~~~ Be whoever you are At all times, and Remember that Because of this, people will Always Respect, and Admire you ©2008Leonard Respectfully Yours, Barbara

You've eloquently put into words how I wonder why my faith isn't as strong as it should be. You made Adam's story personal, and deserve alot of credit for that because all of us Christians should make Adam's story personal. Well done! Mark W. I like Cal and his dog Napalm I like Ike and his itty-bitty A-bomb everybody got one, I want mine you can order it up on Channel Nine. ~From "Doctor Jeep" by The Sisters of Mercy

its a shame Adam threw away life for us. glad you like the poem. thanks for commenting. having faith gives hope of a better day especially since sickness is so prevalent and grips many of us. I thought making Adam personal might make it more real as to his involvement in our demise. ~~~~~~~~~ Be whoever you are At all times, and Remember that Because of this, people will Always Respect, and Admire you ©2008Leonard Respectfully Yours, Barbara
