Sky

the sky over cleveland
is a frozen lake
so perfectly blue,
a robin's egg
already cracking
with the breath of Spring
i love you as the
sky fits the earth
i love you as the
dreamer awakens
and the ocean is near
and the river of dreams
winds around our fingers
like starlight,
like dawn.

~~~
beneath the ashes and the cross,
the crescent city,
we are beggars here,
emptying our bowls
of all that remains,
I am the Lover
You are the Beloved
the wind carries
what is
beyond the rusted heart
where the ruby of indifference
shines
~~~

we are children here,
moon-faced
flowers

dancing
in the laughter
of the wind

you nailed it

how the sky looks, beautiful and cold. There's magnificence even in places like Cleveland, Detroit, the midwest. While the New Yorks, Bostons, and Sydneys of the world are dynamic, and have their own beauty, you've captured how the simpler, crumbling places shine in the right light. Mark W.

cool beans… however, all

cool beans... however, all cities are much the same... the same sky, the same ground... even if the weather, flora and fauna are a bit diverse. ~A "All in all, it's just another brick in the wall." Pink Floyd There are no walls except for the ones we build. ~me~

Perhaps it is just me, but the first stanza threw me off, It starts describing the sky over cleveland, which btw, was a beautiful description, and with no interlude or warning you are saying I love you. perhaps a slight rearrangement might make it better for me. maybe I am just old and get lost easily, i dunno, just a bit disjointed right there for me. Otherwise, I found the descriptions and beauty of this absolutely fascinating. Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water."

Sky

My friend I am the cosmos. I am always in the clouds day or night. I see it through all seasons. I was just blown away. This is exquisite. I fly often. I always have a window seat so I can be part of this. I see within the clouds these pictures you have created here. I see, sea scapes, snow scapes etc all untouched by man. They have just evolved so new. I see glaciers, deep cavens and oceans of the wildest blue. I am the only witness to all of this. Whilst other sleep and miss this wonder. Favourite lines I love you as the sky fits the earth I love you as the dreamer awakens And the ocean is near and the river of dreams winds around our fingers like starlight at dawn. I am so lost within the changes of the colors. As I travel through the time zones of daylight twilight - dawn. I was lost in this my friend. I am in the cosmos. Electricblue

FWIW

FWIW, I had the same jolt at the "I love you" line as Rett did. Perhaps intended? I was moved by the "eden" in this poem - the returning to the innocence of love...all in the middle of Cleveland. :) "Sky" is the perfect title. All we have to do is look up. -Rosemary Quite contrary Now get out of my garden

Poems come through me, more

Poems come through me, more often than not; at times jarring and at times flowing.... This seemed to me to leave me in its wake. Have I told you I love your quote? Now get off my cloud! lol. ~A "All in all, it's just another brick in the wall." Pink Floyd There are no walls except for the ones we build. ~me~

I have always looked up to you as a great poet but this poem has left me speechless. You know, I have always felt that good artists whether they be musicians, painters, poets or sculpters, literally take us by the hand to that magical world of theirs (I remember thinking this while listening to Miles Davis' "Flamenco Sketches". The way the melodic lines flowed out of the instruments of the most gifted line up of master muscians such as John Coltrane for one, made me feel that the world of an artist is indeed infinite. It gave me that assurance that, beyond this mundane, finite weorld of our senses, there is indeed another world - something like the world that Ben Okri describes in his "Astonishing the Gods.). I have never had the privelege of seeing the Cleaveland Sky but today - through your poem - I didn't just see it, I saw its magic. Yes, yes, yes, for sure: we are beggars here, emptying our bowls of all that remains, Thanks for taking me there ... Leonard

And now you leave me

And now you leave me speechless, Leonard....almost. ;-) Yesterday, I was chastised in a poetry group for not writing *on topic* poems, (so I have not posted in any poems since before xmas), in a so-called spiritual group, for *writing* too much, and the war on Palestine goes on....I am totally useless, really in the big picture of things, and I ask for what, this paltry existence. then you write, others write... and once again I am filling...knowing the emptiness and the aloneness will again have its way with me. Thank you for coming with me, Leonard.. ~ "All in all, it's just another brick in the wall." Pink Floyd There are no walls except for the ones we build. ~me~

Interestingly enough, I found Detroit to have an interesting night skyline. It's kind of flat, and there isn't really a huge focal point, so it just seems like miles of twinkle! It's like looking at stars on the ground. I think the most dramatic skyline definitely goes to Las Vegas - we could see that damn pyramid light from miles away! I'm actually not even sure if we were in Nevada yet when I noticed it! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"Handle every situation like a dog: if you can't eat it, or screw it, piss on it and walk away!"
