At Home With Nature

Rain falls heavy
On dusty land
From my front porch screen
I watch lightning
Break apart-hardened soil

The wind blows
In my hair
Spinning in the front yard
I watch the trees
Bow to the wind

Moonbeams dazzle
On ocean’s waters
From my windowsill
I watch ships go
By in the night

Stars sparkle
In the darkness
From my back porch deck
I watch stars fall
Into the ocean

I really like this one Barbara

Can almost feel the power of the storm and the quietness afterward. Did you mean lightning? Beautiful write. Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water."

my screen door

built one the view was to the west the forest the powerline the thin blue highway that swept curving past made of wood and screws and screen staples and hinges wires and washer the wind would whisper her stirring songs settling my heart the distant offshore lightening would flash my yard brilliant as a clouded sun day quick as a thought Your poem is a sweet memory for me of that summer thank you Barbara

Written to you before but not correctly! Stupid me!

"All who achieve greatness in art; Saigyo in traditional poetry; Sogi in linked verse; Sesshu in painting; Rikyu in the tea ceremony, possess one thing in common, they are one with Nature." "All who achieve greatness in art possess one thing in common, they are one with Nature." Dear Barbara, You seem to be at one with nature and can take part in the greater space of the universe. I try to too. Look at Rett's page with the January poem and you will see something from the icy beauty of Norway, another world. May you see the diamonds on the sands. L Ann
