Not I

Not I

One good lie
I think deserves
another.

"Thanks
for scooping
a path

to
my
mother's house,"
my wife

said.

"It wasn't
me," I

said.

"Buster
did it."

"But I saw
your footprints

here
and
there

in the snow,"

she
said.

"Easy
to explain,"

I
then

said:

"Buster
borrowed
my shoes."

"Oh,
really?"

she
said.

Buster's our ...

pet white duck. We rescued him from certain/near death at the city park. Someone had dumped him a week before first snow three+ years ago. He now lives safely indoors in an open cage by the dryer. He makes himself a delightful member of the family. From time to time we let him go outside to romp in the snow. But at least one of us always accompanies him so as to ward off predatory neighborhood hawks, coyotes, foxes, whatever. Thanx, Chuck

Oh, Lord love a duck! and

Oh, Lord love a duck! and you too, for this ducky of a poem on a blustery, wintery, not-quite-ducky-day. ~A "All in all, it's just another brick in the wall." Pink Floyd There are no walls except for the ones we build. ~me~

Chuck, You never fail to make me laugh out loud! Thanks Chuck! _____________________________ To write a touching poem, you must gently stir the soul, if it brings forth tears or smiles, then the story was beautifully told. ________Janice Pearce_________

perhaps

it is my mood, but I loved the wry sense of sadness. Now don't get me wrong, Chuck, your whimsy is as fluid as ever, but I'm injecting my own melancholy here and yes I know that's criminal to project our feelings onto another's poem but by golly I'm loving it. And you better get your shoes back. Mark W.

Those darn shoes ...

they're too heavy for the dryer to accommodate; and after Buster's all though with 'em, they're wet inside ... and out. Takes forever to get 'em dried out enough for me to wear 'em. Again. Thanx, Chuck

This is a clever write. I got a little hung up on the he said, she said, I said, thing but the material (and the image!) more than made up for it. That little 'un is just too cute! What can I say... I 'quacked' up... ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"Handle every situation like a dog: if you can't eat it, or screw it, piss on it and walk away!"
