SKIN COLOUR

SKIN COLOUR You blush when I talk of ruddinessYet you stay in the sun all day I heard you talk of coloursAnd refer these to mean men Black is pitched against whiteRed has nothing to do with brown Mixed are termed coloured, in betweenThe scale of race, rooted in discrimination What colour of skin do you prefer?Given a chance to make a choice Be proud with what you haveAnd live your life in full Look not the other as inferiorNor yourself as superior

I would...

I would end this poem at "brown." Up to there, it says it all. The rest just explanation. Unnecessary, I think. -Rosemary Quite contrary Now get out of my garden

Thanks...

Thanks for the suggestion, but the poem came out of someone seeing himself as superior, calling an albino an 'unfortunate European', which was followed by 'black monkey' and countered by 'white pig' and so on. Yes, the scribble can take a cut at 'brown' but it won't address the two subjects in the dispute. In any case thank you for the reading and for the comment. Best wishes.
