Pause

Mercury rising

Shoulders bow tight,

Throat closes

Mind focuses

Ready to make it right.

Regrettable actions

A berserker laying waste,

The clock tolls

Adrenaline flows

Violence has a taste.

Consequences

Of uncomfortable actions,

Dam up

Thoughts trump

Pausing for fractions.

I'm observing strangers

This business is not mine,

Bed’s been made

The Path is laid

Go outside this time.

Frost...

It is good to see you! I liked the realness in your poem. for I have been there many times... fresh air, it is often the only way of controlling ones self even after an out of control incident... of course there is always the back seat of a police car that tends to calm the rage very quickly too. good to see you posting friend... Going outside instead of getting in a confrontation was different; I didn't end up in handcuffs at least, but can't say the desire wasn't there. It affected me enough to write I guess so something postive came of it. Thank you Frost

Second to last stanza - what do you think about using 'traction' instead of 'fraction'? Just popped into my head that it would work rather well. Glad this didn't turn into something ugly, and that you're safe. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "If we always give what we have always given, we will always get what we have always got..." - Mike R.

I thought about the suggestion and if it had turned out the other way then traction (getting my feet under me) would be perfect; but the pausing for fractions was about thinking it through before deciding to walk away. Thank you :) Frost
