Christmas passed

Christmas is over

Everyone has left

Sitting alone

Dejected, bereft

Silence pervades

This, once happy place

Without loving Family

No smile on this face

Each room holds a memory

Of love and good cheer

The stain on the carpet

Where Mick spilt the beer

The bedroom where kiddies

Slept through the night

Then woke us at five

Before it was light

Remembering uncles

Paddy and Mick

Out in the garden

Both being sick

Drunk too much whisky

Drunk too much wine

Ate too much food

But had a good time

Now the bank account’s empty

Used every cent

No real idea, where

All of it went

It was worth every penny

Worth every pound

To have all my kin

And my grandkids around

Good fun had by all no doubt, brings back memories when I was younger and spending Christmas with family. You almost bought tears of joy. Thankyou Fleur
