land of my father ( Ireland )

Land of my father of trouble, and green,
of hardship, and famine of beauty unseen,

land of my family land of my blood,
of shades of sadness, and life full of good.

of mystic, and legend of heros, and kings,
of God, and religion, and many strange things,

men of renown, and heros of old,
of stories, and fables and of pots full of gold,

of pain, and of anguish, and days full of joy,
of laughter, and sadness of the real mcoy,

of richer of poorer,of sickness, and health,
pockets with holes in ,the abundance of wealth,

the joys of rememberance the days of my youth,
the days of being carefree, and slightly uncouth,

the blessing of children a warm open fire,
to hide from the wind, and the season of showers,

so many the days so simple this life,
will later be complex with trouble, and strife,

but soon will come rest from all of the toil,
fresh life will embrace return to the soil,

hope springs eternal from my saviour, and king,
who causes me to smile, and my heart to sing,

though dark days draw near my burden is light ,
as i watch for salvation through the hours of the night,

so sure is his coming though many will mourn,
one thing is certain a new day will dawn.

ah, only an Irishman at heart could have written this,

I love it. Even if I don't share religious views. There are a couple of places your scansion falters the days of being carefree, and slightly uncouth, maybe the days carefree, and slightly uncouth, and who causes me to smile, and my heart to sing, who causes my smile, and my heart to sing, just tiny changes but it makes a difference in structured work like this. cheers, Jess
