A Hot Dog To Go

Hot dog puppy
Like a wiener
With four legs
You move like a centipede
Quicker than your mistress
Running for the last leaf
However, you keep pace with
Her every stride

Hot dog puppy
Walks the tracts
Looking like a barbecued
Wiener, black on top and
Brown on the bottom
However, like a centipede
In a race, you keep pace with
Her every stride

Hot dog puppy
Looks to the right, left
Explores her path
Like a night owl above
Searching for a evening meal
However, like a centipede’s
One-hundred legs, your four legs
Keep pace with her every stride

Those litle wiener dogs are so cute! My grandparent's dog isn't the little speeding bullet you described, though.... too fat and spoiled! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "If we always give what we have always given, we will always get what we have always got..." - Mike R.

Very observant

Your description of this dog is extremely observant, and contains lots of playful language, and I think the repetition of the 'keep pace' idea is justified because that was probably the most striking detail you noticed. Perhaps the 'master' should really be called a 'mistress'(first stanza) but then you would lose the rhyme with 'faster'. May you write many beautiful poems in 2009. Happy New Year. Robert. P.S. I guess most small dogs have to b pretty fast and alert just to avoid being trodden on...

I enjoyed this one because I love dogs. Robert has already said much of what I would have commented on, too. I would like to send you a hug for "Reality set in today", because I was lost for words when I read it. And, in addition, my very best wishes for 2009! Hug, Ink

Lovely poem Barbara

We lost our little weeny dog right before Christmas. He had been with my daughter and her children for 12 years and some wild dogs got him in the yard when we let him out to do his business. I loved this poem. Thank you. Respectfully, Rett: "When all is said and done, Shut up and relax!" Rett

Barbara,

this write reminded me of a children story, light and funny Imagery of dog centipede and owl, will done my friend. On another note, wow that grandchild is growing so quickly it feels like yesterday. How very beautiful. Can your back take caring the child around, because my wife has what you have and she can just carry herself around. Barbara I hope that in the new year you may find some relief. Have a happy and prosperous new year for you and your family!! Thanks, Eddie

Yes he is so big now 15 pounds from 7 and 26 inches from 21 and I keep him while his mom works. My back and body scream mercy mercy just holding him while sitting in my bed. Can't carry him at all from a standing position. Like your wife I can only carry me, but I struggle with a laptop in a book bag on by back as i mostly wait in the car as my family run errands I get on my laptop write poems and read neopoet emails where ever their is WI FI. I have no relief except for the meds that wears off after a few hours. I hope your wife all the best. I hope she has relief also for this new year. I hope you and your family the bestest of this new year. Respectfully Yours, Barbara

I used to have a little weiner dog named Frankie, when my kids were little. He was one of the best dogs I ever had. Cute poem.

Glad this poem gave you fond memories of Frankie. I cannot relate to animals like I see many people do, but I like dogs and wanted to write something fun and special for those that do. Respectfully Yours, Barbara
