I try to look cheerful, an ultimate trial (my smile freezes, a glacier against hot tears)
I feel a heartbeat amiss, in constant denial (and yet, my dull heart thunders on in my ears)

I am chasing the world daily and nightly (trying to catch it and stop time from flowing)
I am holding the globe ever so tightly (cradling it to stop pain from showing)

But the world swiftly flees from my slippery hands (as my memories of you start unravelling)
The world, deaf, will not heed my selfish demands (as your soul picks up pace for travelling)

No Nina this is lovely..

I love the parenthesis echoing each other as an aside perhaps a intimate thought. It's a structure I have not seen before and it looks delightful on the page as well as reading as a sort of answer to a thought spoken. Parallel poems perhaps one spoken and one thought. Lovely.

Thank you, Theo,

lovely comment... took me some time to decide what to do with the parentheses, glad it seems to work. Yours, ~Nina
