Sorry

I’d like to turn the clock backTo the era of my youthWhen I was young and recklessI was wild and uncouth I’d like to turn the clock backTo the time when I was youngSo I could apologiseFor the bad things that I’ve done I’d like to turn the clock backAnd to Abi I would sayI didn’t mean to break your heartI still love you to this day I’d like to turn the clock backBut I know it can’t be doneSo I’ll just say I’m sorryTo each and everyone

She broke MY heart

I sometimes recall a simlar experience to the one you describe in this poem, but I'm afraid she was the one who broke MY heart, and not the other way round. Perhaps you could describe Abi in a little more dtail. Why did you like her in the first place? Why didn't you really love her? etc. etc. Best Wishes, Robert.

Robert, the lady in question

Robert, the lady in question and I had been together for a few years and were due to be married. Stupidly, we had an argument over the venue, her father had pulled a few strings and had arranged for the wedding to take place at the chapel in Westminster Palace, but I told her it would be far too grand and something simple in a local church would be better, needless to say I stormed out and that was that, I know that I shouldn't have got so angry about it but things were said and my pride would not let me put things right. Anyway Abi was a stunningly beautiful girl with a fantastic personality, and yes, I loved her then and I still do and probably always will. Mais, C'est la vie! Regards John

Silly quarrels

That's a fascinating story and you might include it in the poem one day. At least you had a reasonably important reason for quarrelling. I broke up with my French girlfriend over a much sillier problem. We won the jackpot on a fruit machine (or one-armed bandit as we used to call them when they had an arm) and she suggested we should buy a bottle of good whisky from the bar, take it home and get a little merry, then make love. But I ploughed the whole of our winnings back into that infernal device in the greedy hope of getting another prize. She left me shortly afterwards and I have never played on a fruit machine since. Perhaps there's material for a poem there, too... Best Wishes, Robert.

Shazbat

Shazbat, It is a sweet, simple, deep and a beautiful write. Touched my heart. I am not that aged but I feel many a times in my life that I could "turn the clock back". Honestly, I enjoyed it alot. Thanks for sharing. Sincerely, Wafi
