About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: U.S. A. Indiana, Valparaiso, USA

Favorite Poets: Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Carl Sandburg these I have read some And so Many More. I have no Favorite or any that I dislike. Whom I consider to be poets; of course there are many Dark and hateful souls, who would cry out and to I will lend an ear, but some. They just leave a awful taste in my heart that I can not bear to read twice. Let alone as many times I would do normally; as I must.

Donnie, I enjoyed this write

and it was quite good except for to many haves in the first few stanzas. I would write each of those stanzas something like this... Have you ever lived a dream bathed in an ice-cold stream loved and lost or ever wished to die Just a suggestion my friend. There was too much repetition in those line. Other than that it was good! Respectfully, Rett: "When all is said and done, Shut up and relax!" Rett

Rett Yes this would be a nicer flow and I

Appricate what you have brought to mind But, here I was purposly trying to pound the Have You ever into the ground, with a single repeative question, as an angry wife or a inquisitive child might do. If I Change my mind and try to make it more suttle I would do as you are suggesting But, the purpose was to drive the last stanza home or the last line. Which I try to make the person in the poem feel they are being questioned or intearigated. I don't know why I do but, all my poems are kind of preachy,I really don't mean to be but who knows what lies in the heart of a poet's poem even other poets can't agree to some of the meanings and some have none at all. Thanks for your insights. Donnie/Sinbad

Have you ever...poem

SIN.,Yes to most of your questions. But NO, I haven't forgotten what I've held in my hands. I'm still a dreamer, a poet, an artist, musician, in spite of my human-ness. Old? I'm working on it, trying to not let it be a bad thing. Write on....wcw

WcW is no crime to grow old is it?

But, when we start to forget and don't pass on what knowlege we may have. Weather in songs, poems, or letters of writes, or even a simple pitcure on a wall. Then we need a smack in the head with an attitude adjustment stick. We sometimes or sould I say I sometimes feel a sense of worthlessness and I have to Ask myself many questions, to remeber what I all ready know. Thanks for the read And Write on too I've no expeiceance in song writing. The notes and the music allude me but, I try from time to time to write the words. Donnie/Sinbad

Have you...old is no crime..cmmnt

Sin., The crime would be to grow old without having contributed something good to humanity. We learn from all these experiences, then we try to apply them to the great collective experience for the good of those who will follow us. I think POETRY does that. On a side note, is your picture upside down? wcw
