Shoe Leather

I saw a young girl the other day
cute as a button, hard at play.
I smiled and said, Whatcha doing?
"Playing with a doll stupid" I heard her say.

"mmmmph", I replied
Freely translated, it means;
"Pardon me miss, my foot is stuck in my mouth"!

I spied a young man doing tricks on a bike
And watched awhile then asked very quiet,
"Whatcha doing young feller"?
"Freestyle riding, you ain't very bright!"

"grmmmph", I replied
Freely translated, it means;
"Pardon me sir, this shoe leather is tough"!

I got home after my walk
good smells, to the kitchen I stalk
"Whatcha cooking"? I asked.
"Food, you dummy!" she said with a squawk!

"gurrrrrrrgle mrph grwwl", I replied.
Freely translated, it means;
"I'm getting tired of this crud! Shoe leather
is tuff and the nails get caught in my teeth"!

I like this. The rhythm works works well. It rolls along smoothly. Your rhyme is always good. Too bad we have days like this one, too often it seems. Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. Yours, Deelilah

Some days... Yep! Sorry so long in answering. Been playing with my present. Got a USB turntable for Christmas and am transferring a lot of my old Vinyl Albums to Cd and also converting them to MP3's. Having a blast. *LOL* 3 Dog Night, Blue Cheer, Ultimate Spinach, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Johnny Rivers etc...Yee haw, Marty Robbins too. I love this, what a true write. A simple conversation starter, is turned into stupidity. I remember a time when you would ask "what you doing", and you would get an explanation and a class if you really didn't know. Today everyone is so damn smart that they are actually stupid, if that makes any sense? why have a conversation, when all you need is to look it up in the internet and I can text you later. HOW SAD!!! this is wonderful, thank you for bringing up a great point. I like my leather in a stew, its easier to digest, and we all need some iron in our blood. LOL thanks, Eddie

LOL - had days like this

Some days it seems people just open their mouths to exchange feet (and that's bad enough), but your poem speaks to the thwarted intention to connect and being rebuffed, which is actually rather sad! I agree with Eddie that this kind of 'smartness' is something else disguised... Regards, Jo
