Why Bother

Talk it out
Air it out
Put it all
On the table
Watch it fly

Free the mind
Heal the soul
Get it out
In the open
Watch it fly

No more tension
No more anger
No more fighting
So you think
Just a lie

Ends in tension
Ends in shouting
Ends in anger
Ends in fighting
So why bother

A fruitless attempt
To communicate
Unresolved
Every time
So why bother

In the end
After all is said
Nothing has changed
So why bother
Love is worth it

Communication

This sounds like a concisely described bad relationship. I had good communication with my wife until about a year and a half ago, when we started to have a strong difference of opinion about something that happened to us in Thailand (see my very short story called Thai Rack if you have time). We argued about it again and again, and always finished up angry, but we seem to have reached an understanding again now (at last). If you love someone I suppose you just have to go on trying to get through to them. Best Wishes, Robert.

You are right on. though some things never come to and understanding after many years. True that keep trying. Thanks for commenting, and I will read your poem later. Respectfully Yours, Barbara

Barbara my friend

Good write. I like the short lines and to the point wording (*G* but I am biased). There is always something that will never be resolved. I have my little quirks and so does the wife. Neither of us are going to change them so why bother anymore. Just recognize them and move on. *LOL* I Loved this one. Thanks for sharing. Babara,

why bother, because life is agreeing and disagreeing. the back and forth between two people, New York and Boston, Iran and Iraq. these confrontation are what help develop our strengths and relationships. I have friends that we debate on a continues bases, but we are still good fiends, because in the disagreeing we learn from each other. For me there is nothing like a dragged out, all stops pulled argument. Their are times that things don't seem to get resolved. but when the two parties realize this, then that's the consolation. We can not always agree, but so what as long as we care for each other that's all that counts!! thanks, Eddie

thank you both Rett and Eddie

Tis true every word. But somethings are not little quirks or back and forth disagreements. Somethings tear down the relationships and must be resolve for the relationship to survive. Thanks for commenting glad to hear from you both. Respectfully Yours, Barbara

ok, empathise with the poem,

but your last line belies what you say in response to comments. perhaps an extra verse saying why to bother? Just a thought. cheers, Jess

Thanks, I knew it needed another stanza to wrap up the ending as to why bother, but was tapped out of ideas at the time. Hope this worked out okay. It feel right to me. Respectfully Yours, Barbara
