Of Snow and Cats

Everywhere I turn, there's snow.
It drifts, and piles up on my car
and makes a mess of the roads.
The plows come through incessantly
trying desperately to keep our lots clean.

Jai-ja peers through the windows
surveying the white, glistening terrain
I figure she might want to see it first hand
and she gets strapped into her figure-8 harness
and bright blue leash.

The side door opens, and a gust of wind circles the room.
Jai's nose quivers, as she decides whether this
whole thing was a good idea or not.
I pick her up, and we step out into the white world.
Placing her on the deck, she begins to explore.

She tires quickly of her game
her ears go back
and she daintily shakes her little paws
trying to get the offending buildup off
Back in we go, even though it's only been a couple minutes.

Immediately, she settles in for a bath
as if to make up for the indignity
of wet paws, and cold nose.
That'll learn her!
In is better!

lol, no...

She's had her harness and leash for a while. We sometimes take her out for little 'snuffles' here and there, and it makes it so that she doesn't want to run out the door. If she knows what's beyond the door, she's less likely to bolt. Her Christmas prezzie was Meowie Wowie - a brand of dried catnip grown right here in the Catskills. She also has a new tag with the updated information! Oh the indignities of a cat!

Oh the indignities of a cat! There's looking and then there's getting wet! I always like your takes on your *real* life... Jess. keep your observations coming... ~A well I should tell you a story.. I had an Italian Greyhound by the name of Miles... he hated the cold... as a matter of fact, everyone called him solar-powered because if there was a sunbeam somewhere, he'd find it... anyway in the winter, he hated to go outside... and right below the deck on the left side... i'd literally have to toss him off into the snow to go do his thing... well in early early spring... after it snowed a bit, and after the snow melted in most places, i ran outside with him and then ran over that patch where I'd sort of toss him into the snow... and low and behold I slipped on some ice that what hidden in a patch of snow... excruciating pain.. i twisted my ankle so badly i was in crutches and now years later it never lets me forget it... anyhow... a word to the wise... lol. ~A "Speech is blasphemy. Pets and snow

Our poodle used to go wild in the snow, running in circles, the same as on the beach. Now she's old she doesn't enjoy it so much; even though she has enough curls all over her to protect her from the cold, we have to more or less shove out through the kitchen door. I like the way you describe your winter cat-scene. Best wishes, Robert.
