The Fortunate Man

I enjoy life when I feel good,
and it stands to reason.

When you're feeling "good",
things seem to go your way;
causing you to feel like you're on top of the world!

What a feeling That is!
Lately, I've been enduring a bout with pain.

I guess that's because it rattles me in surges,
With a six to eight week of reprisal.
The pain of Pancreatitis is no joke.

It's a conglomeration of serious jolts of pain
that collectively, aren't irritating...but devastating!

But, that robust pain pales in comparison,
to the feeling I endure when we're apart,
and I am sorely missing you.

What a feeling That is!
I've been feeling it a lot, of late,

but, it comes not, in surges or bouts;
It seems to "team up" with gravity,
and pulls sooo heavy on my heart.

So, no longer will anyone hear me complain,
for I am the fortunate man.

You see, I've been shown quite clearly the difference,
and now I definitely know which is my preference.
It is the pain that doesn't involve my heart.

Hi Doc,

I sympathize with you here. I am having tests for a possible pancreatitis at the moment, although I haven't experienced pain yet. I also went through several months of feeling very separate from my partner recently (even though we were living together) due to a deep depression. I like the way you say that loneliness (or missing someone you love) 'teams up with gravity' and weighs on the heart. Best wishes, Robeert.

I love the way you have learned to speak poetically

in plain language. Poets have been writing manifestos about it for 3 centuries, you just do it. Powerfully. I don't think you need to Bold "that", it comes across clearly and would probably be lost in printing anyway. cheers, Jess "They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety" Benjamin Franklin, wonder what he would think of the Patriot Act.

Mr. Melliard, and Mr. Tapper...

....Thank you for both of your gracious comments. Robert, I hurt knowing that you're following me down this dark pathway, for I know what's around the bend. My friend, "elf"...I thank you for your very generous compliment, knowing full well that you've earned a Masters in Poetry. A "bouquet of smiles" from my heart, do I give you....both! #{:>{)+ Warmest regards, docmaverick.
