Enraptured

The whistling of the wind
as it passes through the trees.
Leaves skitter across the walk
pushed by the invisible force.

Birds chatter in nearby shrubs
voicing their opinions of the day
The swishing of Jai's tail
as she watches her feathered friends.

The gentle clatter of the blinds
from her tail eagerly swaying.
Saki rattles the rocks in his tank
as he swims around, anxious for meal-time.

My watch ticks softly
as my hands are folded behind my head
And I listen to these sounds with my eyes closed
enjoying these few moments alone.

Peaceful one Jess

Enjoyed reading it. Very restful on this sleepy day. Thank you. Respectfully, Rett: "Each man is good in the sight of the Great Spirit.." (Sitting Bull)

Thanks, Rett

That's basically what I was doing, too - just dozing in the chair. Thanks for reading and commenting. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Does Rudolph fail the safety inspection if his nose is burnt out? And where does he go? Jess

Very good imagery. I could see it, but I was not sure what you have in the tank rattling rocks. Lizard?

LOL

No. No lizard, but I wish we did have one - they're cool creatures. Saki is our betta fish (aka Japanese fighting fish) and usually a couple times a day he'll swim really fast around his tank, and it moves the glass rocks at the bottom of it. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Does Rudolph fail the safety inspection if his nose is burnt out? Hi Jess,

You seem to have very sensitive hearing, but then perhaps most poets are extra-sensitive. You have captured some nice details here, Best wishes, Robert.

Robert

I've been accused of selective hearing, does that count? LOL! I read somewhere that when you cut off one sense (in this case, sight, as my eyes were closed) it makes all your other senses more acute. But, you're right, there are times when my hearing is very sharp. Sadly, it's becoming less of an occurence. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Does Rudolph fail the safety inspection if his nose is burnt out? And where does he go? I think it helped that the temperature popped up a few degrees, and it was unseasonably warm. I love birds, and it was funny watching some of them - their little feathers getting mussed by the wind. I guess they had a lot to say yesterday! The cat was sure enjoying it all - live entertainment! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Does Rudolph fail the safety inspection if his nose is burnt out?
