Tides

Though it would seem that tides are eternal,
all wears thin; nothing is invincible.
Ocean waves big and tall, or soft and small,
wash over and over incessantly.

They take down mountains eventually.

Where does that small grain of sand go?
It rides on windy breath, thither and there,
finds a brand new home, or form fantastic,
maybe in a new universe somewhere.

Universes out of breath soon meet death.

Tides do what when the ocean’s been emptied—
pull back and forth on the cavernous pit?
Why, the earth is now flat.  Imagine that.
Moons whip up waterless squalls filled with grit.

According to the sage, moons quit with age.

Faceted diamond by hard times formed
eventually dissolves to glitter dust.
The lover on whose third finger it’s pressed
declares eternal love will never rust.

Love is here to stay while worlds pass away.

Well done deelilah!

I like the flow and the rhyme scheme on this one. I really like stanzas 3 and 4 and the last verse really says it all. Well done! Respectfully, Rett: "The people of America must really like idiots, look at EVERYONE in Washington." Rett

Deelilah

A lovely flowing write that brings a thought of everness and its existance, even that word I used is not to be found. Hey made a new word, but only for a fleeting moment. Sorry went off on a tangent as it were, keep writing this was great, love will last for always. Yours Ian.T

Beautiful, Deelilah!

You write about things in Nature like Mother Nature herself! There must be a bit of her in you! And, as you say, Love is ever-constant! Bravo!

Thank you for your kind comments. Sorry it took so long to get back on this. The sweet puppy in my pic had a bite of my power adapter. Can't pull a semi up to just any store. Finally found a universal adapter in good old Walmart. $89. That's the second one he's had. But I had to get my Neopoet fix. Yours, D.
