Your gentle ways

Woman, with your gentle ways
you complicate my life.

You think of things I'd never dream of;
come up with renovation schemes
to beautify our home;
spend hours walking round in shops -
the last places I would go!

All that may well be complementary;
without your expert eye for detail,
this house would probably look bare;
devoid of knick-knacks, curtains, pictures;
with nothing simply pretty anywhere...

Robert...

I can relate to this one... if my wife weren't here this place would be much different... and I appreciate her gentle ways too... yes, an easy one to relate to. I like your writing... Richard

Hi Richard,

Many thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you can relate to this poem, but I wish some other readers could too! It's usually the woman (in a hetero-sexual couple that is) who takes charge of home-decoration, even if we men often finish up doing the donkey-work (painting, wall-papering, hanging pictures etc.) When I think back to my student days I remember that the only decoration in my room was books...

Robert

So few times do we appreciate the things the fairer sex does. My wife has so much better taste than I. I would have a hodgepodge in my house if she wasn't here. Things like race car nick nacks combined with planes and space shuttles and Football stuff all mixed together. thank goodness she has taste. *LOL* Good write sir! Respectfully, Rett: "The people of America must really like idiots, look at EVERYONE in Washington." Rett

Hi Rett,

Thanks for your comments. I was a little disappointed that only one reader had been attracted by this poem, so I'm glad you found something you could relate to. My wife also has better taste than I do, but even if she didn't I think I would leave the decorating side to her in order to avoid conflict. So when it's time to buy new curtains I just say "That's your department!" Best wishes, Robert.
