Spirit Woman #1

Spirit Woman #1

She lives by the laughing waters,
With the fox, the wolf and the bear.
The cougar pays her homage
As the stag, it's stories share.
The laughing waters talk to her
And the winged-ones of the air.

The spirit-woman stands quietly
Beside the laughing stream,
While the clouds dance overhead
In patterns formed of dreams,
And the wind whispers softly
Of places it has seen.

Double D

It basically is a setup for more to come. *G* Yes'm, Choctaw, Cherokee and Blackfoot. Choctaw on my Dad's side and Cherokee and Blackfoot on my mama's side. During the Civil War, one of my ancestors was married to a Choctaw woman. He was "impressed" into the Union Army. She followed and snuck into the camp each night and killed one or two. They would search and not find her. 3-4 days of this they let him go. I KNOW who was boss in that family! Cool Kaila

Most Choctaws were short to medium height while Cherokees were a medium to tall straight people. Would love to read some of them. I basically know that side of my heritage from doing research into our family tree. I still think the oddest one is that although my Dad's family originated in England, one of my ancestors from there was named Guido! *ROFL* Respectfully, Rett: "The people of America must really like idiots, look at EVERYONE in Washington." Sounds weirdoooo!

It reminds me of my folks freaking me with too much witchy stories, they said--the witches had some form of meditation in streams or rivers, chanting notes and waving their hands as if fighting with some invisible forces, the prosses was done naked, so they told me--wonder they had seen it or were just bluffing fables. I liked it though, but i'm hanging hoping the rest soon. paparazii

Thanks Paparazii

It is a bit of a strange tale. Somewhat of a history lesson with a bit of fantasy storytelling lacing it together. Part 2 and 3 are posted and more to come. It kind of took on more life than I intended, but you probably know how that goes. *LOL* I appreciate it. Respectfully, Rett: "Each man is good in the sight of the Great Spirit.." (Sitting Bull)

I love this Rett,

beautiful and spiritual, I hesitate to add, maybe it could use some ritual matrix words or repetition, draw on your ancestry, us puckin whiteys are nearly sophisticated enough now to appreciate it. heya heya heya cheers, Jess "They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety" Benjamin Franklin, wonder what he would think of the Patriot Act.

I know you would love Ursula K. Le Guin,

(don't you hate it when people are so presumptuous to say things like that?) But I really think you would. I just read her "Always coming Home" which is a future anthropology. cheers, Jess "They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety" Benjamin Franklin, wonder what he would think of the Patriot Act.

just went back and read the comments

so great to see people owning their heritage. I pretended I was part Maori till I was twelve, the only native people that nearly beat the bloody British. I can only claim Irish, English and Scandinavian in my background, white as driven slush. We threw away our dreamtime and blame everyone else. cheers, Jess "They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety" Benjamin Franklin, wonder what he would think of the Patriot Act.

Jess

I have read some Usula K. Le Guin and plan on reading more. I think you are going to enjoy these. You may not like 2 but I thing 3 and 4 you will. It is kind of a history lesson with a spriritual (native american) overtone. Will go up to 1890 or so. Glad you like. Will think very hard about your suggestion on words. Sounds like it might add to it. Respectfully, Rett: "Each man is good in the sight of the Great Spirit.." (Sitting Bull)
