The Stain

Too involved with yourself
a bitter bite for me
pointing only makes you rage,
disappointments achieved.

Collapse in some god-awful crazy
go to sleep and get no rest
wake up, and resume just where you left,
too damn stubborn to do what's best.

Polish the daisies
water the chair
with your feet turned backwards,
you don't seem to care.

You've been so busy
in your self-absorbed style
a little quick around the corner,
a tad bit late to wonder why.

So dry you can't feel miserable
too wet to feel the stain
can you feel the way I hurt for you,
so far... it never ends.

damn

this one kicks serious ass. the opening and closing stanzas are my favorite. 2nd and 4th stanzas trip up my tongue a bit, but i can't see a better way to get across what you do, than what you have written. also love "with your feet turned backwards" lotsa word fun in here, too, along with the feeling. bravo. Hi Mason...

appreciate you reading and commenting... indifference... sometimes it is a needed trait but in a relationship it can be a deal-breaker... thanks Richard

You certainly know the nook

You certainly know the nook and crannies of the cookie cutter lives we tend to create. And you are able to feel those cracked spaces and the pain they cause for someone else who doesn't even realize just how hard they are slamming the wall on their face. Powerful stuff! richard,

hmmm... "watering chairs"? I like this picture so much that I can't seem to get it out of my head. what a wonderful poem! I had lots of fun reading it and I agree with all of the above. how about "a bit too late to wonder why" instead of " and too late"? it spices up the last line and you build more of a bridge to the line before it. just a suggestion :-) all in all a great write that I'm surely going to come back to!

great poem richard lots of feeling in this one and creative imagery you just get better and better as an anti socialist I have many lost battles and selfish wars but nothing kicks up a good spat then taking on warriors and fine intellectuals the admiration of their armour stuns me sometimes "let cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war" William Shakespeare

Another good write,richard.

The only problem I had was the second stanza. With poems that have a certain rhyme scheme,I tend to get into the timing of it,and it seemed to trip a little as I read. But timing,i know,is not the most important factor in a write. Its what we choose to write about, and how we flesh that subject into crisp, eye catching words. You did that here. You made the self indulgence of your unnamed character be felt strongly by the reader, and its sadness was evident,as well.Good work,Richard. I have submitted new poetry.I want you to take a look,as I always welcome you to look at my works. Your friend,in peace, Scott.
