DISTANT MEMORY

Got my umbrella
Got my best smile
Everything will be all right
In just a little while

Rain may be falling
But I won't be crying
'Cause I know that tomorrow
The sun will be shinning

Can't break my heart
With your cruel words
I'll just keep singing my song
And keep you out of my head

Don't need your love
Don't want your love
You're just a distant memory
Now nothing more to me

Once we were one
But that you destroyed
Needed your space
You said to me

Well, little man
I'll be happy to oblige
You go your way
And I'll go mine

What's that you say
You want the dog
Oh, no!  No dog, no kids
No house and not the car

They all take up
Space you know
And let's talk about
The space you take up

As there is no room for you
You made your choice
So good bye my love
And life goes on

Hi Linda,

This lady seems to go through with her separation quite perkily, and I find it a little strange that she shows no trace of sadness or regret. But the poem tells the story simply and clearly, and sends the unfortunate 'little man' firmly on his way. Best wishes, Robert.

It is of course fictional. I'm not really that hard. but it was fun to write. Thanks for reading and for your comments.

Sometimes sadness and regret

are lived through while the woman is still living with a man. I am not the only woman who cried for a year and feeling all alone way before the papers are filed. As I told my ex, you're right I can't do anything right, go find a pro. Patty

Your ex lost a beautiful person. I don't know what gets into them after about 16 years or so of marriage. Don't you believe it when he told you that you can't do anything right. That's satan working. Linda

After sixteen years of marriage all of a sudden I can't do anything right either. *lol*. So I let my hubby do it all it really eerks his nerve. I'm being bad, but your poem says a lot, though fiction for you, I can relate. I enjoyed non the less. Respectfully Yours, Barbara

Dear friend---- This poem was awesome. What a brave attitude. I admire that I suppose this has been coming for some time. I have heard say if you can't go to heaven with me then to he-- with you. I do not care for depression or whining either sister, Patty

I already knew that, never entered my mind that this is an easy subject, but I liked it cause it was NOT depressing. That kind of thing is wearing on my last nerve. your friend, Patty

Hi Linda...

it is a shame that two can end up fighting over what they have gathered... your poem may be fiction for you but for many it is more than real... and moving on is hard to face... even when it is needed... enjoyed the read Linda... Richard

I did go through a divorce when my 4 kids were little. Hardest thing I ever lived through. Wish I could have been a little harder about it back then, it would have been easier on me. Something I will not be writing about. Somehow he ended up with everythig except the kids. He didn't want them. Thank you for your comments, Richard. Always appreciated.

Well done !

First there's pain... then this kind of feeling (life must goes on)... and later, maybe indifference about these memories... Well observed/done... positive words, Linda !... jean-louis
