Dark and Soulless Night (From a dream)

It had been many days since the
Light of the sun or the moon had been seen

The angry sea waters lashed at
The huge ship, and tossed her to and fro

In the brackish, black
And churning void

The ship seemed to have become
A living thing, and I could see her face

And she was sorely afraid in the
Dark and soulless night

Destination unknown! Lost
Utterly lost in uncharted waters and time

Forceful winds tore at her sails
No crew could be seen aboard

Save a pale, white figure that stood at the helm
Surely, something sinister here

In and out of the eerie mist
She helplessly thrashed and rolled

The far away cries of the lost crew heard
from the frightening and deep abyss

The ghostly voyage continues
The lonely ship sails on

What ship is this, that some have seen
In chilling wonder and frightened awe

An ancient ship cursed for an evil work
And now forever lost in hellish eternity

Hi Linda...

yes, it left me wanting to know just what the evil deeds were... but I think you were looking at it from the third persons view... and only witnessed the ship... I don't know... she was sore afraid... not sure about "sore" here... enjoyed your ghost ship... Richard

Actually, I was kind of wondering that myself, and I decided a pirate ship of some sort, maybe. As with most "ghost ships" legends, no one really knows what happened. I changed sore to sorely, maybe more appropriate. Thanks for reading and for your help.

Linda,

this is the kind of writes I love from you, your imagination set freed! you wrote a few like this that I have truly enjoyed. Patty is right this should be a book! tired yes, but in general it takes writers years to put down on paper something worth reading, so start now and I'll wait five or ten years to read the finished work. But don't stop giving me this kind of poetry! thanks, Eddie

Dark and Soulless Night

Linda, You had my atention at the first line. and kept my interest peaked. You need not expand on this, you can keep them guessing, or look up info on a ship that was lost at sea, and title your poem after it. Just my thoughts. Great write~ _____________________________ To write a touching poem, you must gently stir the soul, if it brings forth tears or smiles, then the story was beautifully told. ________Janice Pearce_________
