Michael Angelo: The Creator and The Pieta

 With the dust of marble

In his bushy beard

An implacable zeal in his heart

The intensity of a magnified sunspot

The precision of a surgical blade

A chisel held in a fist of steel

And a mallet that yielded diabolical power

That devastatingly yet tenderly

Left its imprint

Of a Son lifeless and brutally broken

Cradled in the arms of a loving mother

On a monolithic slab of icy stone

Time’s inscription of fleeting emotions

Scribbled on our eyes and on our every muscle

Forever captured and written in stone

Leonard, Thanks for the art lesson. It was as if I were there, watching it being created! Great poem~ _____________________________ To write a touching poem, you must gently stir the soul, if it brings forth tears or smiles, then the story was beautifully told. ________Janice Pearce_________
