The Shadow of Buddha

 Always at battle

Always in flux

You move

With the unceasingness of the wind

Before you lies your dreams

Behind you,  your memories

Squeezed through the vicissitudes of time

Stop not; fear not

The kingdom is approaching

It will come out of the horizon

And sink into

Abysmal depths and disappear

Look into heaven and watch

The sky open up

Behind it endless space

Swallowing degenerate generations

Condemning them to eternal death

And then the sparkling stars

Will light up your way

And guide you

To an ancient dawn

There you will see

Sitting cross legged

The sun trapped within his being

Smiling that smile

Of everlasting bliss

The Buddha

A good descriptive picture of the future. Looking forward to the rapture, but not yet.... In his time. Patty

Leonard,

what an enlightening write. I love the way you covered all believes. there are two lines here that are very true to different believes, "Swallowing degenerate generations Condemning them to eternal death" this line is the death in some religions that then bring enlightenment. "Sitting cross legged The sun trapped within his being" this line speaks of a supreme being that captures the power of the sun, which is the most powerful energy source. this line also speaks of a supreme being and the son (sun) who is the master worker of the father. this is a very intelligent write I truly enjoy writing that has deep inner meaning. great work on your part, Leonard! thanks, Eddie "I love animals, their just like meat"

Thanks Eddie

I really appreciate the way my poem has come across to you. You have analysed it very well. You are spot on about the "sun trapped within your being". To me the sun is indeed a very powerful source and can be likened to the very highest power. Thanks once again Take care ... Leonard

The Shadow

Leonard, Beautiful write by you, Just a few suggestions: Line 5 Before you lies [lay] your dreams Line 6 Behind you [add a comma] your memories Line 14 sky [skies] open up Not positive about these? After that some periods and commas are needed, [I think] This was an in depth write but I wouldn't expect anything different from you, nicely done~ _____________________________ To write a touching poem, you must gently stir the soul, if it brings forth tears or smiles, then the story was beautifully told. ________Janice Pearce_________

Thank you Janice

I really appreciate your having read the piece so thoroughly. I have carefully analysed the suggestions you have offered. Line 5 - I have kept the present simple tense for effect because of the timelessness of Buddha's message. Line 6 - I agree with you here - I have added a comma. Line 14-I prefer sky. Thanks once again for your in-depth read. I really appreciate it. Your poet friend ... Leonard

Shadow of Buddha poem

L.D., This is a well written poem that touches on several beleifs. It is a fantasy. Plenty of room to make it up. A kingdom isn't coming. All generations have been degenerate. Buddah is already everything. I still really like the lines.."...guide you to an ancient dawn." Wonderful poem. wcw
