You've Gotta Try This!!

Why, oh, why did I do it?
I was told it was delectable
(it was)
and simply irresistible
(it is)
but now I pay the price

The warm, dark liquid
as it drips downwards
snaking an inviting scent throughout the room
as I tap my fingers impatiently
waiting for it to finish.

Slowly, I drink in
and the remarks made are true.
"It's bold and strong"
(quite so)
"You'll love it!"
(I do)

And now I lay staring at the ceiling
andmythoughtsallruntogether
and I feel like I can conquer the world
Three A.M. has come and gone
as I silently curse myself
for not waiting until morning to indulge

damn coffee....

*LOL* Oh yes, good coffee

I am an indifferent coffee drinker at best, but even I enjoy a good cup once in a while. If it only tasted half as good as it smell you would NEVER be able to pry my hands from around a cup until I was dead. Good write Jess! Love it

You really brought a nice twist of style to the platform with this one. I love coffee too. I spend ten dollars a pound for mine. I love the Ethiopian and Kenyan coffees. I drink up to two pots a day!

Jess

I agree with Rett, if it only tasted half as good as it smells. I just never developed a taste for the stuff. My mother was a avid coffee drinker. Told my once she did'nt know who my mother was. Didn't understand how anyone could not like coffee. Good write, Jess

LOL

I had such a laugh at this one! I LOVE my coffee, but was cursed with an unbelievably sensitive system - I can't have caffeine after 3.30pm or I'm bouncing off the walls all night. I sympathise wholeheartedly with the thoughts running together, the megalomania & the sleeplessness. Who needs to try the hard stuff when you react like this to caffeine??? Fun write. Regards, Jo

Been there done that

Ah yes, caffeine, my drug of choice. I drive the night shift on our team truck driving job, and for me there is no other choice. Therefore, at some point 'andmythoughtsallruntogether', a really good line, becomes a reality. Check out 'When Sleep Won't Come' Parts 1,2,or 3. You can see I relate. Yours, deelilah

Agree with everyone…

Agree with everyone... wanted to comment on the snowmen pic too but Janice beat me to the hairdryer. You are a master of taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary, Jess. I look forward to your next take on something or another. Coffee, as well as anything I drink or eat goes through me...sometimes I think poison would have a momentary effect; however I'm not going to try it just to see if it's true. Lol. I drink a little of everything, btw, but lots of water... Must have been a fish in my last incarnation. Ooooooh. Methinks that's a beginning of a poem.. AND I KNOW I REPLIED TO THIS WHEN YOU FIRST POSTED IT!!! There needs to be a freaking blinking red light that says: hey stupid you just previewed the comment, now post the fn thing! oh yeah

that magical brown stuff! I love it too, a good rich cup of colombian, you can taste the earth itself. lol, I've spent many nights starring at walls, cleaning out fridge or closets over one too many cups of the elixar of "BAM!! YOUR NOT GETTING ANY SLEEP TONIGHT!" But what would morning be without our little friend caffiene? coffee, coffee, coffee...

this piece sure made me smile! I'm the worst coffee-addict in the world. I used to have these coffee-inflicted sleepless nights (horrible feeling, by the way) but I guess I'm immune now. great write, Jess, really fun to read! respectfully, Proprietress

LOL, thanks again, all!

I see I'm not the only victim. Update to the situation: Jon's parents gave us some coffee from Nicaragua.... holy mother of God this stuff is strong! Makes your back teeth wiggle, and guaranteed to keep you up for days! Many thanks to all who read and commented. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"Handle every situation like a dog: if you can't eat it, or screw it, piss on it and walk away!"
