You Don't Want Poetry

You don't want poetry
you want a position to defend
an accusation to dig your teeth
into, I understand...
I understand why
some flowers never blossom
and some children die before
they're born,
this is the only way to bare your soul,
to get naked with the ugly truth,
you don't want pretty words
to dance inside your head
while terrorists are opening doors
to all your hidden fears...
you don't want poetry
to make you feel less significant
than the common wren,
you don't need poetry to
to make you feel
real again,

it hurts too much to feel...
it hurts too much to feel.

Hmm!

Hey Anna - This one has teeth! Enjoyed it very much. Sometimes you do just have to get your hands dirty, don't you... Regards, Jo

Anna

This is good. I don't want verbal diarrhoea that will make me talk nonsense, I want poetry that will live long after I shall have gone. Well done and best wishes. T.
