Post Turkey Day Blues ( A repost from last year)

Post Turkey Day Blues

Oh, the turkey was sublime
The dressing was extra fine
The yams were so yummy
When stuffed into my tummy
The potato salad was so great
As was the ham I'd masticate
The deviled eggs I desired
Left me feeling so inspired
So chicken and dumplings I then ate
Piled them high upon my plate
The fruit salad was quite divine
But the lemon pie I can't define
And as I sit in major strife
I guess it's time to pay the price

My pants don't fit any more
And my jaws have gotten sore
I can no longer see my feet
From eating all those lovely sweets
Now even spuds give me hives
Because my skin broke out in eyes
Like the turkey when it gobbles
My neck has several lengthy wattles
And my stomach has got so big
That I'm grunting just like a pig
Now I am sure this is nothing new
I'd like more to eat, but I can't chew...

Rett, you ole' Gobbler you!

This is the funniest poem I've read in ages! You really piled our poetic plates with more than we can pleasantly process! Next time I burp, I'll feel like Larry the Cable Guy with Diarhea! Many thanks for the chuckles, my friend!

Overeating

Hi Brett, Overeating is one of my few talents, so this poem reminded me of past excesses. I live in Spain, where Christmas and New Year celebrations involve five huge, delicious meals, so I always finish up feeling bloated, as you seem to feel in your poem. Hope you recover soon, Robert.

Wow Robert

And I thought we were the kings of overeating. *LOL* Thank you very much for taking the time to read and comment. Good food is so hard to pass up! Respectfully, Rett: "A man convinced against his will, is of the same mind still" Unknown

Thanks zarul

Sometimes when food is just so good, a person tends to overindulge. Glad you enjoyed it my friend. Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate it. Respectfully, Rett: "A man convinced against his will, is of the same mind still" Unknown

Rett, one of the reasons I

Rett, one of the reasons I adore you, is the length and breadth of your er.... poem. Hugs (if only I could put my arms around you ;-) ~A "Speech is blasphemy. Silence a lie. Above speech and silence is a way out." I-tuan.

Awww shucks

Now you have me blushing and a blush on a man looks like he is either drunk or mad. *G* Thank you for such kind words. ((Hugs)) Respectfully, Rett: "A man convinced against his will, is of the same mind still" Unknown

Rett...

I enjoyed your over-indulging plates... it seems it has become a tradition for most of us on these holidays... funny and full of rhythm... reads like a song... Richard

Thanks Richard

Glad you liked it. It is fun to look at the ridiculous side of things. I ate way too much, but I have lost 46 pounds since last Thanksgiving so I splurged. *LOL* Now, if I don't gain all 46 back I'll be fine. I appreciate the comments my friend. Oh the weather outside's delightful. And the size of my tummy's frightful. But since I can't move to go. Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow! Loved the poem, Rett! We became little piggies at mother's, too, and then she sent us home with tons of leftovers - which are already completely polished off. Ahhh.... good eatin'! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "So you stand on the corner in your new English clothes.
