Some Family
I went with my buddy in High School
to his house, where he had reason to dread.
Chaos, and an alcoholic father,
told me right away that his mother was dead.
Needless to say it didn't happen to me,
it was just some family.
I remember a friend I was fond of
and how exhilarated, he'd lose his breath,
for truly he loved riding his bicycle
ultimately causing his death.
Needless to say it didn't happen to me
it was just some family.
Another good friend loved his motorcycle
was amiable, yet I feared the worse.
One night a speeding car didn't see him,
then I helped carry him to his Hearst.
Needless to say it didn't happen to me,
it was just some family.
I remember one really lean Christmas
and so the hope in our eyes wouldn't drain,
my folks charged our Christmas with Spiegle,
and we opened boxes on the dock of a train.
Needless to say that did happen to me,
that really was some family.
Another time in my youth, we did live,
separated from our siblings and folks;
but that was just something one had to do
if one's home and belongings go up in smoke.
Needless to say that did happen to me,
that really was some family.
Almost every time my colleague arrived late for work,
and his kids weren't getting enough sleep;
I thought nothing of it until our paths crossed one night,
seems he and his family were sleeping in their Jeep.
Needless to say that didn't happen to me,
that again was some family.
I then saw all that I've shared here,
and I realize life is not dull,
families persevere through all kinds of weather,
and the love is what keeps our lives full.
Needless to say that it all happened to me,
and I hail from some family!
to his house, where he had reason to dread.
Chaos, and an alcoholic father,
told me right away that his mother was dead.
Needless to say it didn't happen to me,
it was just some family.
