The Agitated State of Mind

The agitated state of mind
resembles a foregone conclusion,
improvised, compromised, revisions
provisions
pontificating and exclaiming
a round-about turn of events,
expanding and contracting
like a New York minute
(or two)
hustling and a-bustling
in one door and out another
you are stuck in the elevator
when the lights go out
and the darkness scares
the living daylights out of you,

where do you go now
but into your deepest fear,

avenging angels
swallow
seeds of discontent
and somewhere in time
it flowers
into a bleeding heart
carelessly at home
in its elemental joy.
