Thank you, to my God on high
that I'd get to live Life's Song,
it's lovely tune has remained the same
even though I've had the words all wrong.
One chorus I'm having trouble with
has me struggling to remain calm,
it's a subject that I hold so dear
and that's the subject of my Mom.
She'll never fully understand
how I love her, and in what way,
and how I expect her to stick around
for forever, and a day.
I've never really questioned Him
that is, if God's a "He",
but even if God's a woman,
why is she failing me?
For forever I'll be questioning
why it is I'll have to grieve?
For she has so much to offer
she should never have to leave.
I know it's unrealistic
to expect to have my way,
but no matter how many years she lives
it'll be too soon for her to go away.
So now I've got to deal with
what gives my heart the blues,
for it turns out that my mother
is ill, and it's bad news.
Time is short, and I must make
the most of these grains of sand,
by letting her know she's precious,
and how I truly think she's "Grand".
And if she has discomfort
I pray that it would cease,
for she deserves to suffer not,
and to ultimately go in peace.
I'm so grateful for this woman
who's life I must applaud,
I just hate the thought of saying, "Goodbye"
even though she's going home to God.
that I'd get to live Life's Song,
it's lovely tune has remained the same
even though I've had the words all wrong.
One chorus I'm having trouble with
